Sometimes called "Broken Glass Candy"
List of Ingredients
3 3/4 C. sugar
1 1/2 C. light corn syrup
1 C. water
2 drams or .25 fl oz Flavoring
Food coloring of choice.
Powdered sugar (optional)
Recipe
Mix first 3 ingredients in a large saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Boil, without stirring, until temperature reaches 310 degrees F or until drops of syrup forms hard brittle threads in cold water. Remove from heat. "After boiling has ceased" stir in flavoring and coloring. Pour onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Cool and sprinkle on powdered sugar if desired. Break into pieces. Store in airtight containers.
