    Basic scones

    Source of Recipe

    unknown

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 cups of self raising flour
    • 2 teaspoons sugar
    • 15g butter
    • 1 cup milk (approximately)

    Instructions

    1. Sift flour and sugar into medium bowl. Rub butter in, using your fingertips

    2. Make well in centre and add milk.

    3. Using a knife, cut the milk through the flour mixture to mix to a soft sticky dough. Add remaining milk only if mixture is too dry

    4. Place dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly until smooth.

    5. Roll, or press, out dough to approximately 2cm thickness. Cut scones into rounds.

    6. Place scones side by side, just touching, in a lightly greased pan.

    7. Brush tops of the scones with a little extra milk. Bake in a very hot oven for about 15 minutes, or until tops are brown.

    8. Serve while hot, with jam and whipped cream.
