    Apple Strudel

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
    • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup sultanas
    • juice of 1/2 lemon.
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 125g ready made filo pastry sheets
    • 60g unsalted butter, melted
    • 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
    • icing sugar, to sift


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 200 C. Grease a large baking tray with melted butter.

    2. In a bowl, mix the apples, sugar, sultanas, lemon juice and cinnamon.

    3. Lay a sheet of filo pastry on a lightly floured surface. Brush with butter and top with another shet of pastry. Repeat the process until all the pastry is used up.

    4. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs lengthways over the centre third of the layered filo. Top with the apple mixture.

    5. Folde the short ends of the pastry over 2.5cm. Fold the long side nearest to you over the apple filling, and roll the strudel away from you, enclosing the filling.

    6. Put the strudel seam-side down on the prepared baking tray. Brush with remaining butter. Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden

    7. Place on a serving place and dust with icing sugar. Serve hot or cold, with fresh cream and icecream.
