Apple Strudel

List of Ingredients
- 2 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/3 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup sultanas
- juice of 1/2 lemon.
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 125g ready made filo pastry sheets
- 60g unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- icing sugar, to sift
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200 C. Grease a large baking tray with melted butter.
- In a bowl, mix the apples, sugar, sultanas, lemon juice and cinnamon.
- Lay a sheet of filo pastry on a lightly floured surface. Brush with butter and top with another shet of pastry. Repeat the process until all the pastry is used up.
- Sprinkle the breadcrumbs lengthways over the centre third of the layered filo. Top with the apple mixture.
- Folde the short ends of the pastry over 2.5cm. Fold the long side nearest to you over the apple filling, and roll the strudel away from you, enclosing the filling.
- Put the strudel seam-side down on the prepared baking tray. Brush with remaining butter. Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden
- Place on a serving place and dust with icing sugar. Serve hot or cold, with fresh cream and icecream.
