    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups butter
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
    • 4 cups of flour
    • lemon juice


    Instructions


    1. Cream butter, add sugar, and blend thoroughly. Add vanilla and dash of lemon.

    2. Divide flour into four even portions. Add flour in portions, and mix well after each addition.

    3. Turn out on a lightly floured board, and knead well.

    4. Shape into a large rectangle. Cut into 1 inch by 3 inch rectangles, and prick deeply with a fork.

    5. Transfer shortbread bars onto ungreased pan (there is enough butter in the dough). Place bars 1 inch apart.

    6. Bake in moderate oven (350F) for 20-30 mins or until very light brown.
