List of Ingredients
- large round steak - 1" thick
- 1/4 cup flour
- 3 tsps salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 3 Tbsp shortening
- 1 can mushrooms, sliced or stems and pieces
- 1 tsp worchestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/8 tsp rosemary
- 1/8 tsp cayenne
- 1/4 tsp oregano
- 1- 6oz can of tomato paste
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 - 8 1/2 oz can of applesauce
Instructions
- Cut steak into serving size pieces.
- Combine flour, salt and pepper and pound into steak.
- Brown meat, onion and garlic in shortening.
- Pour off drippings.
- Add worchestershire sauce, water and spices to pan.
- Cover tightly and simmer for 2 hours.
- Stir in tomato paste, ketchup, applesauce and mushrooms.
- Continue cooking for 30 minutes or until fork tender.
Final Comments
Nice with potatoes, rice or noodles.
