List of Ingredients
- 4 onions,chopped
- 3 tablespoons margarine
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 3 (10 1/2 oz) cans beef broth
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 cup white wine
- 1 french baguette, cut into 1/2 inch slices
- 8 oz shredded mozerella cheese
- 1/2 cup parmesean cheese
Instructions
- In a large pot, over medium heat, saute the onions in the margarine for about 10 minutes, or until onions are tender.
- Stir in the flour,pepper, and sugar to form an almost pasty like mixture.
- Add beef broth,water,parsley and thyme and simmer for about 10 minutes,then add the wine and simmer for 10 more minutes.
- Preheat oven to broil.
- Toast the baguettes.
- Place one slice of bread into each oven safe bowl.
- Fill each bowl 3/4 of the way full with soup mixture.cover with mozerella cheese and a sprinkle of parmesean over each bowl.
- Place in oven,broil until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Final Comments
You can reduce the amount of onions to your likeing.
