    Angelo's Coney Island Sauce

    Source of Recipe

    Gloria Isaac

    Recipe Introduction

This is the second best Coney Island Sauce I have found. Try it, you'll like it. I highly recommend putting it on old fashioned frankfurters or natural caseing vienna hot dogs with prepared mustard and onions to taste.

    List of Ingredients

    1 T Butter
    1 T Margarine
1 1/2 lb Ground Beef (Not Lean)
    2 Onions Chopped
    1 Garlic Crushed
    Salt and Pepper To Taste
    2 T Chili Powder
    1 T Prepared Mustard
    6 oz Tomato Paste
    6 oz Water
    5 Vienna Hotdogs Ground

    Recipe

    1. Add all but hotdogs to the pan, DO NOT BROWN MEAT FIRST (See Notes)
    2. Cook over medium heat until thick. A long slow simmer is best
    3. Excess fat can be removed when cooled
    4. More water may be added for desired consistency
    5. Stores well and may be frozen

Note: You want the meat to cook wet (soft) so don't brown it or cook it separetely. A hand mixer or blender used with part of the cooked mixture may help to get the desired consistency.

    Yield: 8 Servings
