Chocolate Cutout Cookies

½ cup butter (no substitutes)
3 ounces light cream cheese
1 ½ cups sifted powdered sugar
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
½ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. cinnamon
1 egg
½ tsp. vanilla
1 ½ cups flour
Recipe
Beat butter and cream cheese on medium for 30 seconds. Add powdered sugar, cocoa, baking powder and cinnamon; beat until combined. Beat in egg and vanilla. Beat in flour (finish mixing by hand if needed). Divide dough in half. Cover and chill 1 hour or ½ hour in the freezer (or until easy to handle).
Roll on lightly floured surface until 1/8 inch thick. Cut out and put on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-7 minutes. Cool on cookie sheet 1 minute. Finish cooling on a wire rack. Outline cookies with powdered sugar icing if desired.
Yield: 3 ½ dozen cookies
