Sausage-Stuffed Mushrooms

24 large fresh mushrooms (used White)
1 pound of bulk Italian sausage (used veal sausage)
1/2 cup chopped green onions
1 cup of spaghetti sauce (used Foodguy's awesome spaghetti sauce)*See sauces*
1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheeseRecipe
Remove and chop the stems and set the caps aside. Cook the sausage till it is no longer pink. Remove the sausage and drain. Add the mushroom stems and onions and saute. Add the sausage and spaghetti sauce.
Stuff the mushrooms and sprinkle with the cheese. Place in a greased 15x10x1" baking pan and bake at 350 for about 12-15 minutes.
I had a couple of pieces of string cheese so I just cut them into small pieces and as soon as I took the mushrooms out of the oven I pressed (1) small piece of cheese right into the center of the mushroom making it nice and gooey~ Janie~
It would be a nice idea to use some of the sauce to coat the dish with and offer some extra sauce on the side~
You can use less sausage as I used (1) veal link and it made 7 medium sized mushrooms. I also like to use a mellon baller to hollow out the mushroom so that it will hold lots of filling.
