    Recipe Introduction

    Dripping Springs B & B; This recipe occured out of necessity. I always have so much bread leftover from breakfast; this makes a wonderful brunch or breakfast addition, and cuts down on wasted food.

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup sugar
    10 slices white bread, croissants, any bread
    4 eggs
    1/3 cup rum
    1 cups milk
    1/3 lb butter
    1 cup walnuts

    Recipe

    First tear up bread slices in large bowl. Add sugar, milk, vanilla, and rum. Mix eggs and add to mixture. Chop nuts coarsely. You can add raisins if you want. Let this mixture soak awhile.

    Grease a large bread pan, or tube pan. Add mixture and dot with butter. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes, then check for doneness. It should still be springy and soft, not too well done. Let cool slightly and remove from pan and slice when it is firm enough to slice. Serve warm or cold with powdered sugar sprinkled on if you like.

    You can make a rum sauce from a little butter, powdered sugar, and rum cooked till melted and drizzled over it too!

    Total preparation time: 1 1/2 hour
    Serves: 8
