    With a few twists (like cookies mixed into the batter), we turned cake mix into a chocolate chip cookie-lover's dream! Woman's World 01/20/04

    List of Ingredients




    1 (8 oz) pkg mini chocolate chip cookies, such as Mini Chips Ahoy, divided
    1 (18.25 oz) pkg yellow cake mix, preferably Duncan Hines)
    1-1/4 cups buttermilk
    3 large eggs
    1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
    1 cup (6 oz pkg) mini semisweet chocolate chips
    3 (16 oz each) cans chocolate frosting

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 350ºF. Coat 2 - 9" round baking pans with cooking spray.

    Reserve 10 cookies for garnish; coarsely chop remaining cookies.

    At low speed, beat cake mix, buttermilk, eggs & butter 30 seconds. Increase speed to med-high; beat 2 mins. Reduce speed to low; beat in chopped cookies & 1 cup mini chocolate chips just until combined. Divide batter between pans.

    Bake 30 mins or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 20 mins. Remove from pans; cool completely on wire racks.

    Place 1 cake layer on platter; spread with 1 can frosting. Top with remaining cake layer. If desired, transfer 1 cup frosting to pastry bag fitted with large star tip. Spread remaining frosting over top & side of cake. Pipe rosettes or drop dollops of frosting onto cake. Garnish with reserved cookies.
