Easy Pineapple Upside Down Cake

1 large can crushed pineapple, drained well
1 stick of butter, melted
1 cup brown sugar, packed
9 maraschino cherries
yellow cake mix, prepare following the box directionsRecipe
I have always used crushed pineapple to make PUDC. I just melt 1 stick of butter in my 9x13 pan, add 1 cup brown sugar, stir and spread out evenly in the pan. Then I pour the well-drained crushed pineapple over that. I press 9 maraschino cherries into the mixture also. I just make up a yellow cake mix following the box directions, pour it over all and bake for 30-35 minutes in a 350 oven. It is my husband's favorite cake so I always make it on his birthday.
