Recipe Introduction

Bake this spicy cake in a plain or fancy tube pan and cut it thinly to serve it.

List of Ingredients

2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 cup melted butter
1 1/2 cups buttermilk


Recipe

Sift together the flour, sugar, soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and cloves into a mixing bowl. Stir in the butter, then stir in the buttermilk, mixing until the batter is well combined and smooth. Grease a tube cake pan and dust lightly with granulated sugar. Pour in the batter and bake in a moderate oven 350ºF. for 1 hour or until a cake tester comes out clean.
