Posted by: TXSue: I chose Mushroom Sausage Strata from Dec/Jan 2003 TOH by Julie Sterchi of Harrisburg, Illinois. It is similar to a family recipe and was very simple. Don't forget to refrigerate it overnight!
It was very good and rich. Next time I would cut smaller pieces (about 2"x2") as it was rich, add salt, use white bread instead of wheat (kind of sweet with wheat bread) and double the cheese. We enjoyed it - it would be a good Thanksgiving or Christmas morning brunch item.
