    Source of Recipe

    Star

    List of Ingredients

    2 lbs ground beef
    1 large onion, diced
    2 cloves garlic, chopped

    28 oz can diced tomatoes
    29 oz can tomato sauce
    2 tsp seasoned salt

    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp garlic powder
    1/2 tsp pepper
    3 tsp Italian seasoning
    1 1/2 tsp sugar
    2 Tbsp dried parsley

6 to 8 oz cooked spaghetti or angel hair pasta, depending on your preference (Sydney and I like regular but Theresa's family likes the thin)

    2 cups shredded cheddar
    1 cup shredded Montery Jack

    Recipe

Brown Ground Beef , onion, garlic and seasoned salt in a large stew pot. Drain. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, garlic powder, pepper, Italian seasoning, sugar and parsley. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally for 1 hour. It is very thick.

Cook pasta according to package directions.

Cover bottom of a deep 13x9 casserole with a thin layer of sauce, just enough to keep it from sticking. Add a layer of pasta and cover with 1/3 of the cheddar and 1/3 of the Montery Jack.
Repeat layers of sauce, pasta and cheese. Add final layer of sauce. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes, or until heated through. Top the casserole with the remaining 1/3 of the cheeses and return to oven. Bake until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 5 more minutes.

Posted by: _starshineeliz: My sister made this for my birthday dinner we had a few weeks back. Our theme was to try different recipes that we had in our "to try" piles since she and my neices love to cook as much as I do. This was one of the hits of the party. She adapted it from Paula Deen's recipe, so it's similiar, just a few changes. It is really very good, and would freeze wonderfully. Better than any baked spaghetti I've tried in the past. This would be a wonderful potluck dish or church supper dish. Look at the spices and see if you might want to adjust any to your taste. I think I would like a bit more garlic, but then, I love garlic! Star
