    DUTCH BUTTER SQUARES

    1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
    1 cup granulated sugar
    1 large egg
    2 cups all purpose flour

    Recipe



    In large mixing bowl, cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light & fluffy. Add egg; beat well. Gradually stir in flour, blending well. (Dough will be sticky.) Divide dough in 1/2. Place each portion of dough in well-greased 8" square baking pan. With floured hands, press dough evenly into pans.

    Place pans in COLD oven. Bake in 350ºF oven 20 mins until lightly browned. Remove from oven; cut into 2" squares while warm. Remove from pans; cool on wire racks.

    Makes about 2-1/2 dozen squares.
