    Midwest Mud Bars

    Recipe Introduction

This recipe is just like the Mississippi Mud bars but peanut butter and crisp rice cereal are added. This recipe makes 36 bars. When I saw that I didn't believe that you could get so many servings out of it but it is true. This is a very easy recipe. These bars are so rich that you just need a small serving. I liked these but it isn't something that I would make all the time for dessert. This would go great on a candy tray at Christmas or a pot luck.

    List of Ingredients

1 (19-21 1/2 oz) package fudge brownie mix
1 (10 oz) package mini marshmallows
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
    1 cup creamy peanut butter
    1 Tbl butter
1 1/2 cups crispy rice cereal

    Recipe

Prepare the brownie mix according to package directions, using a 13x9x2-inch baking pan and the directions for chewy (not cake-like) brownies. Bake according to directions.

Sprinkle baked brownies with marshmallows and return to oven for three to five mins. or til it turns golden. Cool in the pan on a wire rack.

In a saucepan, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Heat and stir till chocolate has melted. Remove from heat; stir in the cereal. Pour evenly over marshmallows.

Refrigerate till topping is set. Cut into bars. Serve at room temp. Makes 36 bars.
