    Recipe Introduction

"Rich butterscotch flavor makes these chewy, frosted bars favorites."

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 cup lard
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 cups sifted flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    3/4 cup chopped pecans

    Praline Frosting:
    2 Tablespoons butter
1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 Tablespoons light cream or milk
    1 cup sifted confectioners sugar

    Recipe

Melt lard in 2-qt. saucepan. Add remaining ingredients, except frosting, and mix well. Spread in greased 13-in. x 9-in. pan. Bake in moderate oven (350ºF) 25 to 30 minutes. Cool slightly in pan on rack, then spread with Praline Frosting. When cool, cut in 2-in. x 1-1/2-in. bars.

Praline Frosting: Melt together butter, brown sugar and light cream. Stir in confectioners sugar (enough to make a frosting of spreading consistency) and beat until smooth.
