    List of Ingredients

    1 cup quick cooking oats
    1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, melted and divided
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 cups (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Additional walnuts or pecans, if desired

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 350*. Grease a 13x9 inch baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, nuts of choice, 6 tablespoons of butter, and the baking soda. Press firmly on bottom of prepared pan. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine remaining 2 tablespoons butter and the sweetened condensed milk. Cook and stir until mixture thickens slightly, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla. Pour evenly over baked crust. Bake 10 to 15 minutes longer or until golden brown.

Remove from heat. Immediately sprinkle the chips on top. Let stand 1 minute, then spread the chips over the still warm top. Garnish with the additional nuts, if desired, press down firmly.

Cool completely and cut into bars. Store tightly covered at room temperature.

Makes 3 dozen bars depending on size of bar when cut.

    ENJOY!
