    3/4 cup shortening
    1 cup brown sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 cup applesauce
    2 1/4 cups flour
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp salt
    3/4 tsp cinnamon
    1/4 tsp cloves
    1 cup raisins
    1/2 cup chopped black walnuts (may use pecans or omit)

    Recipe



    Mix shortening, sugar, and egg thoroughly. Stir in applesauce. Add dry ingredients, mix well. Stir in raisins and nuts.

    Drop onto lightly greased cookie sheets and bake at 375ºF for 10 - 12 minutes.
