Recipe Introduction
Below is a recipe that I made up for Cinnamon Apples. Robert loves them and it is much less expensive to make your own instead of buying the premade "country crock" ones.
4 large apples -- peel and cut into 1/4" slices
1 cup water
1 ¼ cups sugar
Pinch of Salt
~Bring above ingredients to a boil. Put the apple slices into the hot sugar solution. Reduce heat and cook about 10 minutes til apples are tender but not mushy. When apples are cooked, gently remove them from the solution using a slotted spoon.
1/4 cup cold water
2 TBS cornstarch
~Mix cornstarch into cold water. It makes a white solution. Slowly add to the hot sugar solution and bring back to a boil. Cook about 3-5 minutes until it becomes thick.
1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
~After the solution has thickened, add cinnamon -- breaking up the lumps of cinnamon. When sauce is smooth, gently return the cooked apples and stir.
Serve hot. Yield: 4 servings
