    annrms's Polish Noodles and Cabbage

    1/2 cup butter (I used water to steam cabbage.)
    1 medium peeled and chopped yellow onion
    4 cups chopped or thinly sliced cabbage
    1 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper, or to taste
    8-ounces egg noodles
    1/2 cup sour cream (optional)

    I mixed 1 teaspoon hot paprika into sour cream (optional)

    Melt the butter in a large skillet. Add the onion and saute until transparent. Add the cabbage and saute until tender but still crisp. Stir in seasonings.

    Meanwhile, cook the noodles in salted water as directed. Do not overcook. Drain well.

    Stir the noodles into the cabbage mixture and add the sour cream if using. Cook 5 minutes longer to reheat.

    Serve with kielbasa or other sausage.

    For a 1 dish meal, slice the kielbasa into half-moons and mix into the "Kapusta" [Polish] or "Haluski" [Russian]
