Use a green candy cane and attach this poem:

I think I've had a visit
From a leprachaun, whoopee!
You ask me how I know this
He left his walking stick you see
I know it isn't mine because
It's green and rather small
And everyone knows leprachauns
Are not so very tall
So if you see a leprachaun
Looking for his stick
Tap him on the shoulder
And send him back here quick
