PORCUPINE ICE CREAM BALLS W/CHERRY SAUCE

8 C. corn flakes, crushed to make 4 C.
1/2 C. slivered almonds
1/4 C. margarine
3/4 C. granulated sugar
2 T. light corn syrup
1/8 tsp. salt vanilla ice cream
Warm Cherry Sauce:
1 can cherry pie mix
2 T. granulated sugar
1/3 C. cherry liquid
Recipe
Mix corn flakes and almonds.
Combine margarine, sugar, syrup and salt and place over medium heat and allow mixture to cook until syrup bubbles completely. Remove and add corn flakes mixture. Stir to coat, then turn out on large area covered with wax paper. Separate with 2 forks. Cool.
Roll balls in cool corn flakes mixture and return to freezer.
Serve with Warm Cherry Sauce made from combining Warm Cherry Sauce ingredients.
Make 8 large ice cream balls.
