    Recipe Introduction

Recipe converted to diabetic-friendly by Gaudrey; Apple Dew originally posted by: lindachicken. This recipe can be halved ().

    List of Ingredients

    2 packages crescent rolls ***(I used 1)
    2 Granny Smith apples *** ( I used 1 Pink Lady apple)
    8 ounces Take Control margarine *** ( I used 4oz Smart Balance)
    2 cups Splenda, divided ***(I used 1 c)
1 1/2 teaspoons Saigon cinnamon, divided ***(I used 3/4 tsp)
Grated zest of 1 lemon ***(omitted)
    Juice of 1 lemon ***(omitted)
10-oz. Diet Sprite (or use Diet Mountain Dew if you like that) ***(I used 5oz Diet 7-UP)

    Recipe

Peel apple and slice into 8 sections. (My slicer does 10 sections) Separate crescent rolls and roll 1 apple slice in each. Place in a 9x13-inch buttered or sprayed baking dish. *** (I used an oval 1 1/2qt pyrex baker - will use an 8x8 next time!)

Melt margarine, add 3/4 cup of Splenda, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, lemon zest and juice. Stir well and pour over rolls. Finally add Diet Sprite. Combine remaining 1/4 cup of Splenda and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon and sprinkle on top.

Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.

Serve warm with a little ice cream on top.

If you want Cinnamon Ice Cream, slightly soften 1 pint of sugar free vanilla ice cream. Stir in 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of Saigon cinnamon, depending on how strong you want the cinnamon taste. Refreeze until firm. Serve on top of the warm Apple Dessert - or ANY apple dessert.
