Buttercream Frosting

1/2 cup vegetable shortening-solid
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 lb powdered sugar (about 4 cups)
2 Tbsp milk or water
1 tsp vanilla Recipe
Cream shortening & butter together, then add rest of ingredients. Blend together on medium speed until well mixed. Beat for another minute or two until creamy. Can add a drop or two more milk to get desired consistancy. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks in an airtight container. Rewhip before using.
Chocolate buttercream:
Add 3 oz melted unsweetened chocolate and 1 Tbsp milk to above frosting.
Another good recipe can be found inside of a can of Meringue Powdered. I find it by the cake making supplies at the grocery store or at Walmart.
