(Entrée for oven or crock pot)
List of Ingredients
2 pounds stew beef cubes
2 onions - sliced
2 beef bouillon cubes
1 cup water
1 can beer
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 bay leaf
touch of thyme & parsley
salt & pepper
1 1/2 Tablespoons cornstarch
2 Tablespoons red wine vinegarRecipe
OVEN Directions:
Preheat oven to 325°F. Cooking time is 2 1/2 hours. In a small amount of oil brown onions, remove from pan. Add beef & brown. Add bouillon cubes and water. Stir. Add rest of ingredients. Pour in beer. Mix together the cornstarch and red wine vinegar; add to beef mixture. Pour into a 4 or 5 quart Corning (or oven proof) casserole dish. Cover and bake approximately 2 1/2 hours until tender. Serve over cooked wide-size noodles. (I usually double recipe because we like to have plenty of leftovers).
CROCK POT Directions:
Basically prepare as above and put in crock pot (or slow cooker). Cook on low approximately 6 to 8 hours or until meat is tender.
Rolls, a tossed salad, and a dessert of apple crisp or apple pie are a nice accompaniment.
