2/3 cup undiluted CARNATION Evaporated milk
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup fine dry bread crumbs
1 slightly beaten egg
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
Combine ingredients in large mixing bowl. Mix lightly but thoroughly to blend.

SUPPER ON A BREAD SLICE: Add 2 cups shredded process American cheese to Basic Ground Beef Recipe. Mix lightly. Cut 1 loaf French bread in half lengthwise. Spread meat mixture over cut surface of halves. Wrap foil around crust of each half, leaving top uncovered. Bake on cookie sheet in moderate oven (350 degrees F) 25 minutes. Garnish with cheese strips. Return to oven 5 minutes, or until cheese melts. To serve cut each loaf into 3-inch slices.
MEAT LOAF: Prepared Basic Ground Beef Recipe. Place in 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf dish. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees F) about 50 minutes. Let stand on wire rack about 10 minutes before removing to serving platter.
CHEESEBURGER LOAF: Add 1 cup shredded process American cheese to Basic Ground Beef Recipe. Mix well. Place in 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf dish. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees F) 50-55 minutes. Remove from oven and garnish with cheese strips. Return to oven about 2 minutes, or until cheese melts. Allow to stand 10 minutes, then remove to serving platter.
SHISH KA BURGERS: Prepare Basic Ground Beef Recipe. Divide into 12 balls. Alternate with small tomatoes and thick onion slices on 6 skewers. Place on broiling pan. Broil 5-7 inches from heat about 5 minutes on each side, or until done to taste.
BAKED BEANS 'N' BURGERS: Prepare Basic Ground Beef Recipe. Divide into 18 portions; shape into balls. Brown meat balls on all sides in 3 tablespoons oil. Drain off excess fat. Combine 1 1/2 cups catsup, 3 tablespoons vinegar, ,3 tablespoons brown sugar, 3/4 teaspoon dry mustard, and 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce. Spoon over meat balls. Boil gently 15 minutes. Spoon 4 cups (two 16-ounce cans) baked beans into 2-quart casserole. Cover with meat balls and sauce. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees F) 25-30 minutes.
BURGERWICHES: Prepare Basic Ground beef Recipe omitting egg. Divide meat into 12 parts. Press 12 thin patties about 4 1/2 inches wide between wax paper. Place one of filling mixtures below on 6 patties. Top each with second patty. Press edges together. Place on broiler pan in moderate oven (350 degrees F). Bake 20 to 25 minutes.
Beanburgers: Mash 1 cup baked beans; add 1/2 cup finely chopped onion and 2 teaspoons molasses. Mix to blend. Spread 6 patties with catsup or mustard. Top each with 2 tablespoons bean mixture.
Tomatoburgers: Spread 6 patties with mustard. Place a thin onion and tomato slice on each.
Pickleburgers: Spread 6 patties with mustard. Top each with thinly sliced dill pickles.
Relishburgers: Combine 3/4 cup pickle relish, 3 tablespoons chopped pimento and 3 tablespoons prepared mustard. Spread mixture on 6 patties.
PIZZA BURGERS: Omit egg and prepared mustard from Basic Ground Beef Recipe. Add 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well. Split 4 hamburger buns in half and toast lightly. Divide meat mixture into 8 parts. Spread one part meat mixture evenly over top surface of each bun, making a well in center using back of spoon. Divide 1 cup (8-ounce) can pizza sauce evenly among wells. Place on cookie sheet. Bake in hot oven (425 degrees F) 20 minutes. Sprinkle about 2 tablespoons shredded mozzarella cheese over each burger. Bake until cheese melts.
