CUSTARD PIE

List of Ingredients
4 eggs, beaten
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 2/3 cups scalded milk (must be whole milk)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 unbaked pie shell
Pie shell:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
5 tablespoons cold water
Mix dry ing. Work in shortening until resembles crumbs. Work in cold water. Roll out thin on floured surface. Put in pie pan.
Recipe
Pie: Mix well. Pour into prepared pie shell.
Bake 400ºF 45 min. or until knife inserted in middle comes out clean.
Review Posted by: bonnieq: This is to die for so I will make it again. I was rushed so made it with Splenda (for DH) and used a store-bought pie crust. I should mention, watch this carefully. Mine was done at 35 minutes in a 400º oven. I had to put foil on the crust as it was browning faster than the custard was cooking. BJ
