Preheat oven to 350ºF. In large mixing bowl, place potatoes, onion soup mix, sprinkle with garlic powder and peper to suit your taste. Pour on melted butter and toss to evenly coat potatoes. Place in a greased baking dish. Bake at 350ºF until crisp and nicely browned.
Posted by: arelabs: I swear to you I would be the last person to use canned potatoes!!!! I had something similar to these a couple of times at a neighborhood place that caters small parties, and I thought they were good, but they weren't browned and crispy like these.
So, I found this recipe and finally tried it, although reluctantly. I cannot tell you how surprised I was. These are delicious. You'd never know you're eating canned potatoes!
Here's the recipe and my notes on how I made them. Unbelievable! I made these in my 6-quart Nesco roaster, and turned them up higher to get them brown and crisp quicker. This takes a little while.
I promise, you will be surprised at how good these are for (ewwwwww) canned potatoes. Arlene
