Creamed Peas and Onions

List of Ingredients
1 Tbs butter
1 Tbs all-purpose flour
3/4 cup heavy cream, half and half, or milk
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
A grating of fresh nutmeg
3 cups frozen peas, cooked according to the package directions and drained
1 cup frozen pearl onions, cooked according to the package directions and drained
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese for garnish (optional)
Recipe
Heat the butter in a saucepan over moderate heat and stir in the flour. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring frequently, and whisk in the cream. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently, and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir in the cooked peas and onions and garnish with grated Parmesan if desired. Serves 4 to 6.
