    1 1/4 C. REGULAR ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
    3 TSP. BAKING POWDER
    1/2 TSP. SALT
    1/2 C. SUGAR
    1 1/2 C. ALL BRAN READY-TO-EAT CEREAL
    1 1/4 C. MILK
    1 EGG
    1/3 C. SOFT SHORTENING OR VEGETABLE OIL

    STIR TOGETHER FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, SALT AND SUGAR. SET ASIDE. COMEINE CEREAL AND MILK INTO MIXING BOWL. LET STAND 1 TO 2 MINUTES OR UNTIL CEREAL IS SOFTENED. ADD EGG AND SHORTENING. BEAT WELL. ADD FLOUR MIXTURE TO CEREAL MIXTURE, STIRRING ONLY UNTIL COMBINED. PORTION BATTER EVENLY INTO 12 GREASED 2 1/2" MUFFIN-PAN CUPS. BAKE AT 400 ABOUT 25 MINUTES OR UNTIL MUFFINS ARE GOLDEN BROWN. SERVE WARM. MAKES 12 MUFFINS.
    VARIATIONS: 3 CUPS RAISIN BRAN FLAKES OR 2 1/2 CUPS 40% BRAN FLAKES MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR THE ALL-BRAN CEREAL.
