    1/2 C. SUGAR
    1 QUART MILK
    1 TSP. VANILLA

    MELT BUTTER AND ADD RICE, SAUTE FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE. ADD
    REMAINING INGREDIENTS. BRING TO A SIMMER. POUR INTO A 9
    INCH GLASS BAKING DISH. BAKE AT 250 DEGREES FOR 2 1/2 HOURS.
    FIRST 1 1/2 HOURS, STIR EVERY 15 MINUTES. IF YOU WANT TO ADD
    RAISINS POUR THEM IN AFTER FIRST 1 1/2 HOURS. IF YOU WANT TO
    YOU CAN ADD 1/2 C. HEAVY CREAM NOW. FOR THE LAST HOUR,
    BAKE WITHOUT STIRRING.
