1 C. SIFTED FLOUR
1 TSP. BAKING POWDER
1/4 TSP. SALT
1 EGG
1 C. MILK
1 TBSP. OIL

SLICE UNPEELED ONIONS ABOUT 1.4 INCH THICK; SLIP OFF SKINS AND SEPARATE INTO RINGS. SIFT TOGETHER FLOUR, BAKING POWDER AND SALT; BEAT EGG WELL THEN ADD MILK AND OIL. STIR IN SIFTED DRY INGREDIENTS AND BEAT UNTIL SMOOTH. DIP ONION RINGS, ONE AT A TIME, IN BATTER; LET DRAIN A SECOND OR TWO THEN DROP INTO DEEP FAT WHICH HAS BEEN HEATED TO 375 DEGREES; FRY JUST UNTIL GOLDEN, 3-5 MINUTES.
NOTE: ONION RINGS MAY BE KEPT WARM BY SPREADING IN A SINGLE LAYER ON A COOKIE SHEET IN A 325 DEGREE OVEN.
