Popcorn Balls

Recipe Introduction
This is a very old recipe, especially good for Halloween treats. Nannie remembers popcorn balls from her childhood.
List of Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup or sorghum
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/4 cup butter
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- Popped corn
Instructions
- Cook all ingredients, except for vanilla & popcorn, to a hard ball stage.
- Add vanilla.
- Pour over popcorn and shape into balls. Wetting hands while shaping balls helps prevent sticking.
- Wrap individually in saran wrap.
Final Comments
Grandma Emma often inserted suckers on a stick inside the balls.
