    • 1 lb lean hamburger
    • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 2 cups chopped celery
    • 2 cups water
    • 1/2 cup raw white rice*
    • 2 Tbl. Worchestershire sauce
    • 2 tsp. soy sauce

    • ** drain water chestnuts and slice or buy pre-sliced ones

    Instructions

    1. Saute chopped onion and hamburger in bacon drippings for 10 minutes. Stir often and add all other ingredients except the chow mein noodles.

    2. Pour into a buttered 9x13 Pyrex baking dish. Bake one hour at 350 degrees.

    3. Serve with chow mein noodles.

    Final Comments

This casserole would be more substantial if the cook were to use 1 1/2 lbs of ground beef instead of just the pound originally called for.
