Chop Suey Casserole

List of Ingredients
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 Tbl bacon drippings
- 1 lb lean hamburger
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 cups chopped celery
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup raw white rice*
- 2 Tbl. Worchestershire sauce
- 2 tsp. soy sauce
- 1 can mushroom soup
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 can of water chestnuts**
- 1 can chow mein noodles
- * do not use minute rice
- ** drain water chestnuts and slice or buy pre-sliced ones
Instructions
- Saute chopped onion and hamburger in bacon drippings for 10 minutes. Stir often and add all other ingredients except the chow mein noodles.
- Pour into a buttered 9x13 Pyrex baking dish. Bake one hour at 350 degrees.
- Serve with chow mein noodles.
Final Comments
This casserole would be more substantial if the cook were to use 1 1/2 lbs of ground beef instead of just the pound originally called for.
