    Choco-Coco-Nut Bars

    Adapted from King Arthur Flour Recipe


    List of Ingredients


    • CRUST
    • 1/2 cup butter, room temp
    • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
    • 1 large egg
    • 2 tsp vanilla
    • 1 1/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp baking powder
    • 1 1/2 cups toasted coconut
    • TOPPING
    • 12 oz chocolate chips
    • 2 1/2 cups toasted pecan pieces
    • 1 bag carmel candies, unwrapped
    • 2 cups toasted coconut


    Instructions


    1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Toast coconut and pecans. Stir from time to time and watch to make sure they don't burn.
    2. Cream sugar, butter, egg and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and pat crust into a buttered 9x13" baking dish.
    3. Bake for 30 minutes.
    4. Remove baked crust from oven and spread chocolate chips over hot crust. Let stand for approximately 5 minutes or until chips are soft. Spread over crust.
    5. Add pecans to melted chocolate and pat into the chocolate.
    6. Melt carmels in microwave. Pour over pecans and spread out.
    7. Pat remaining toasted coconut into warm carmel.
    8. Allow to cool before cutting.
