List of Ingredients
- 1/2 cup softened butter (no substitutes)
- 1/2 cup Crisco shortening
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 4 cups unbleached flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 2 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- Extra white sugar
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Measure dry ingredients into a crock and mix with a fork to blend. Set aside.
- Cream butter, Crisco, white and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add molasses and eggs and mix well.
- Mix in dry ingredients, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Use a 1 Tbl. sized scoop to place cookies onto a non-stick Air-bake cookie sheet. Place cookies approx. 2" apart and sprinkle some white sugar on top of each cookie mound.
- Bake for 11 minutes. Do not overbake or cookies will be hard. Remove from oven and let cookies rest on baking sheet for at least one minute before removing to a wire rack to cool.
- Store in a cookie tin. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.

Just the thing to eat with a big glass of cold milk!
