Furma, Aunt Vada Fern's Friend
Recipe Introduction
This cheesecake is lighter than most, but it is every bit as good as the five package versions. It was my mother's favorite.
List of Ingredients
- CRUST
- 2 Cups graham cracker crumbs
- 2 Tbl sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- FILLING
- 1 cup sugar
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- 5 eggs, separated
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- TOPPING
- 1 Pint sour cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- CRUST: Mix ingredients and pat into a 9x13 baking dish.
- FILLING: Mix egg yolks, one at a time, with cream cheese and vanilla. Beat in sugar.
- Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into the cream cheese and egg mixture.
- Pour filling over crust and bake in a pre-heated 300 degree oven for 1 hour. Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes.
- TOPPING: Mix sour cream with sugar and vanilla. Spread on top of baked cheesecake. Return cheesecake to oven and bake 5 minutes more.
- Cool and refrigerate.
- This cheesecake may be frozen for later use.
Final Comments
Serve with sliced and sugared strawberries.
