    List of Ingredients




    2 cups sugar
    4 eggs, beaten
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    1 cup black walnuts, chopped
    1 cup shortening
    3 cups all purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1 cup buttermilk
    1 cup coconut, flaked
    2 teaspoons coconut extract

    Instructions

    Combine sugar, oil and eggs and beat well. Combine all dry ingredients together and then add to sugar mixture. Add buttermilk. Stir in nuts and add coconut flavoring. Place in tube pan in a 325 degree oven for 1 hour and 5 minutes. Do not over bake.
    Syrup for cake: 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, 1/2 cup water, 1 teaspoon coconut extract. Combine sugar, water and butter. Boil 5 minutes and remove from heat. Stir in flavoring and pour over hot cake.
