    Holsteiner Ananas (Holstein Pineapple)

    List of Ingredients

    2 medium turnips
    1 pound carrots
    pork (your fav part, I use Kassler but I'm not sure what that is in English)
    broth
    salt, pepper, marjoram

    Recipe

    I think I posted this about a thousand times but it is my favorite food and it's typical for S.-H.I love most North German food, I think, but this one's great.But be aware not to serve it to older north Germans as right after World War 2 we had a big famine and for two winter all the people here had to eat was turnips for breakfast, turnips for lunch and turnips for supper...

    Directions:
    Cut veggies in pieces but not too small.Put half of the pieces in a large pot put pork on it and then rest of veggies.Pour broth over it (or pour water over it and add some instant broth, I do this all the time), but not too much, it should cover half of the last veggie layer.Bring to boil and let simmer for about 1-1/2 hours.
    This is very, very good warmed up.And I think it would make a good crock-pot dish, I can't give you directions as there's not such thing like a crock-pot in Germany.
