    Mini-Hat Deviled Eggs

    Source of Recipe

    Carol Duval Show/HGTV 5/8/03

    Recipe Introduction

Mary O'Neil shares a Mother's Day tradition passed down by her godmother. These make such a pretty presentation.

    List of Ingredients

    Materials:
    deviled eggs
egg shaped cookie cutter (scissors or knife would also work)
    sliced bread
    cream cheese
    mayonnaise
    cake decorating tips and bags

    Recipe

    Steps:

Make deviled eggs. Hard boil and peel eggs. Slice in half lengthwise, removing the yolk from each half. Place all yolks in a bowl and smash. Add small amounts of mayonnaise and / or mustard to the yolks and mix well. The amounts of mayonnaise and mustard added will vary according to individual taste. Stuff boiled egg halves with yolk mixture. Set aside.
Use egg shaped cookie cutter, knife or scissors to cut egg shapes out of sliced bread.
Position the egg-shaped piece of bread over the stuffed side of the deviled egg and place on a serving plate, bread side down, creating a base out of the bread.
    Refrigerate overnight.
Soften cream cheese and mix in a dollop of mayonnaise.
Color cream cheese / mayonnaise mixture with food coloring.
Decorate eggs by piping colored cream cheese through cake decorating tips onto the egg.
My Additions: Add salt to the yolk mixture or your favorite recipe. Don't overstuff eggs as in usual recipe as it will lay flat on cut out bread pieces.
