Recipe Introduction
This is a variation on the standard green bean dish that everyone makes for the holidays. The rich sauce makes it a real standout and turns the plain, old green beans into something extra-special.
List of Ingredients
1 9-oz. pkg. frozen cut Green Beans
1 4-oz. can sliced Mushrooms, drained
2 Tbsp. Green Onions, chopped
1/4 cup Water
1/2 cup Whipping (Heavy) Cream**
1 tsp. CornstarchRecipe
Place green beans in a colander and run hot water over them until they are partially thawed; break apart with a fork.
In a saucepan, combine beans, mushrooms and green onion. Add the 1/4 cup water. Bring to boiling; cover, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain.
Stir together the whipping cream and cornstarch; add to the cooked vegetables. Cook and stir over Medium-low heat until thickened and bubbly, then cook and stir a minute or two longer. Season with salt
and pepper.
Makes 4 servings.
**Note. You can use light cream to save on calories, but, in my honest opinion, the dish really loses if you do.
