Makes two loaves
List of Ingredients
- 5 3/4 to 6 1/4 cups flour
- 1 pack active dry yeast
- 2 1/4 cups milk
- 2 Tbl sugar
- 1 Tbl Shorting
- 2 Tsp Salt
Instructions
- In A Large Bowl, Combine 2 1/2 cups flour & yeast. Mix.
- In A sauce pan, combine milk, sugar, shortning,and salt. Stir constantly Untill just warm (110-115 degrees)
- Add to flour mixture and mix at low speed for 30 secs. Then high speed for 3 min.
- Add enough of the remaining flour to get a moderatly stiff dough. Knead till smooth(8 to 10 min.)
- Shape into a ball and cover in a lightly greased bowl. Let rise till doubled(1 to 1 1/4 hrs)
- Punch down and divide into two equal balls, Let rest for 10 mins.
- Shape into loaves and put in lightly greased bread pans
- Let rise for 45 to 60 mins.
- Bake at 375 for about 45 mins.
