    • 2/3 c tomato juice
    • 1/4 c oil
    • 1/4 c soy sauce
    • 2 Tbsp dry sherry
    • 2 tsp hot-pepper sauce (Tabasco)
    • 1 tsp garlic salt
    • 1 broiler-fryer (about 3 lbs.), cut up


    Instructions


    1. In large heavy plastic bag in shallow dish, mix well tomato juice, oil, soy sauce, sherry, Tabasco sauce and garlic salt. Add chicken; toss to coat well. Close tight and refrigerate, turning occasionally, 3-4 hours or overnight. Remove chicken from marinade.
    2. If you are grilling it, place chicken skin side up, 5-7 inches from medium hot coals. Grill 50-60 minutes or until fork tender and well browned, basting with remaining marinade and turning every 10-15 minutes.
    3. If you are broiling it, place chicken, skin side down on lightly greased broiler pan rack. Broil 6 inches from heat source 25 minutes, basting frequently with remaining marinade after 15 minutes. Turn; broil 20 minutes or until fork tender, basting frequently after 10 minutes. Makes 4 servings.
