    List of Ingredients


    • 1 9"x9" cake pan
    • 3/4 cup boiling water
    • 2/3 cup rolled oats
    • 1/3 cup Crisco
    • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
    • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tsp maple flavoring
    • 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
    • 3/4 tsp baking soda
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • Frosting====
    • 1 Tbls crisco
    • 3 Tbls packed dark brown sugar
    • 3 Tbls half & half
    • 1 to 1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Grease 9x9x2 inch pan. Set aside. In small bowl combine boiling water and oats. Let stand for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in medium mixing bowl cream crisco,brown sugar, granulated sugar,eggs and maple flavoring until light and fluffy. Add oatmeal mixture, flour, baking soda and salt.
    2. Beat at low speed of electric mixer until blended, scraping bowl constantly. Beat at medium speed for 1 minitue, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into prepared pan.
    3. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. Cool completely.
    4. For frosting, in small saucepan combine crisco, brown sugar and half & half. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Remove from heat; cook to like warm. Beat in pawdered sugar to reach disered consistency. Spread on cooled cake.
