- 3 TSP. BAKING POWDER
- 3/4 CUP BUTTERMILK
- 1 TSP. SALT
- 3/4 TSP BAKING SODA
- 3/4 CUP SHORTENING
Instructions
- SIFT ALL DRY INGREDIENTS TOGETHER
- MAKE A WELL IN MIDDLE OF DRY INGRIDIENTS AND PUT SHORTENING IN THE WELL.
- WORK SHORTENING INTO DRY INGREDIENTS WITH A PASTRY CUTTER OR FORK. WORK UNTIL IT RESEMBLES COARSE CRUMBS
- ADD BUTTERMILK AND MIX WELL
- TRANSFER DOUGH TO A WELL FLOURED SURFACE
- HEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES.
- KNEAD DOUGH (ONLY A FEW TIMES)
- SHAPE INTO BISUITS BY HAND OR USE A BISCUIT CUTTER.
- PUT THEM ON A GREASED BAKING SHEET WITH SIDES TOUCHING.
- BAKE FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES OR UNTIL BISCUITS ARE LIGHTLY BROWNED.
