    • 1 1/2 CUPS SUGAR
    • 3 1/2 TSP. BAKING POWDER
    • 1 TSP. SALT
    • 1/4 CUP BUTTER OR MARGERINE SOFTENED
    • 1/4 CUP SHORTENING
    • 1 CUP MILK
    • 1 1/2 TSP. VANILLA EXTRACT
    • 3 EGGS


    Instructions


    1. PUT ALL INGREDIENTS INTO A LARGE MIXING BOWL. BEAT ON LOW SPEED ON MIXER, SCRAPING BOWL CONSTANTLY, UNTIL WELL COMBINED.
    2. BEAT ON HIGH SPEED FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MINUTES.
    3. BAKE AT 350 DEGREES IN 2 GREASED AND FLOURED, 8 INCH LAYER PANS.
    4. WHEN COMPLETLEY COOL. SPLIT LAYERS MAKING 4 LAYERS.
