THIS RECIPE MAKES A MOIST AND DELICIOUS CAKE THAT IS GOOD ALONE OR WITH FRESH FRUIT AND WHIPPED CREAM
List of Ingredients
- 1/2 CUP SHORTENING
- 1 CUP BUTTER
- 2 1/2 CUPS SUGAR
- 5 EGGS
- 2 TSP. VANILLA
- 1 CUP MILK
- 1/2 TSP BAKING POWDER
- 3 CUPS CAKE FLOUR
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES.
- GREASE AND FLOUR A TUBE PAN
- CREAM THE SHORTENING, BUTTER, AND SUGAR UNTIL LIGHT AND FLUFFY(APPROX.6 MINUTES)
- ADD THE EGGS ONE AT A TIME AND BEAT WELL AFTER EACH ADDITION
- ADD THE VANILLA
- MIX THE BAKING POWDER AND THE FLOUR TOGETHER
- ALTERNATELY ADD THE FLOUR MIXTURE AND THE MILK, STARTING AND ENDING WITH THE FLOUR.
- POUR BATTER INTO PREPARED TUBE PAN AND BAKE FOR 1 1/2 HOURS, OR WHEN A TOOTHPICK COMES OUT CLEAN AFTER YOU INSERT IT INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE CAKE.
- COOL IN PAN FOR 10 MINUTES, THEN TURN OUT ONTO A WIRE RACK TO COOL COMPLETELY.
