- 1 1/2 CUP ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
- 2 TEASPOONS BAKING POWDER
- 1 TEASPOON SALT
- 1/2 CUP BUTTER,DIVIDED
- 2/3 CUP SUGAR
- 1/2 CUP RAISINS
- 1 CUP MILK
- 1 TABLESPOON GRATED LEMON RIND
- 1/2 CUP MOLASSES
- 1 1/4 CUP WATER
- JUICE OF ONE LEMON
Instructions
- SIFT TOGETHER THE FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, AND SALT.
- CREAM 4 TABLESPOONS OF BUTTER, GRADUALLY ADD SUGAR TO THE BUTTER AND BEAT UNTIL LIGHT AND FLUFFY.
- ADD MILK ATERNATLEY WITH FLOUR,BEATING AFTER EACH ADDITION. BEAT UNTIL SMOOTH
- STIR IN THE RAISINS AND LEMON RIND.
- POUR MIXTURE INTO A WELL GREASED 9 INCH SQUARE PAN.
- COMBINE THE LEMON JUICE, REMAINING BUTTER, MOLASSES, AND WATER IN A SAUCEPAN. BRING TO A BOIL.
- REMOVE FROM HEAT AND GENTLY POUR OVER THE BATTER.
- BAKE IN A 350 DEGREE OVEN FOR 45 MINUTES.
- SERVE WARM.
